Basic Working at Height

 This course provides delegates with the essential knowledge to work safely at height. It focuses on key legislation, safe working practices, and the correct use of personal fall protection equipment, giving delegates the confidence to carry out tasks safely and effectively.


Course Content:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA)
  • Work at Height Regulations (WAH)
  • Types of work at height and associated risks
  • Selection and safe use of equipment
  • Correct fitting of a safety harness
  • Pre-use inspection of Personal Fall Protection Equipment (PFPE)
  • Fall prevention vs fall arrest systems


Course duration: 0.5 day

Managing Working at Height

This course provides managers, supervisors, and team leaders with the knowledge and tools to plan, oversee, and control work at height safely. It focuses on legal responsibilities, risk management, and implementing safe systems of work, giving delegates the confidence to lead and monitor height-related tasks effectively.

  • Health and Safety at Work Act (HASAWA)
  • Work at Height Regulations (WAHR)
  • Legal duties and responsibilities of managers and supervisors
  • Risk assessment and method statements for work at height
  • Selection and oversight of appropriate PFPE equipment
  • Planning and monitoring safe systems of work
  • Pre-use inspections of Personal Fall Protection Equipment (PFPE)
  • Fall prevention and emergency considerations

Personal Fall Protection Equipment Inspection

 

This course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to carry out thorough inspections of personal fall protection equipment (harnesses, lanyards, and associated gear) in compliance with current regulations. Delegates will gain confidence in identifying wear, damage, and defects to ensure equipment remains safe and fit for use.


Course Content:

  • Legal requirements and industry standards for PFPE inspections
  • Components of harnesses, lanyards, and connectors
  • Understanding wear, damage, and potential failure points
  • Inspection procedures and checklists
  • Frequency of inspections, including six-monthly thorough inspections
  • Record-keeping and maintaining compliance
  • Safe storage and handling of PFPE
  • Practical inspection exercises and assessment
