Course Description:
Delegates will gain practical experience operating a counterbalance forklift truck, supported by essential theory. The course also covers safe handling practices, manoeuvring techniques, and how to carry out pre-use checks to ensure safe operation. Training is delivered on your site, anywhere across Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, the wider South Yorkshire, and across the UK region, in line with ITSSAR accreditation requirements.


Course Content:

  • Health and safety responsibilities for forklift operators
  • Pre-use inspection and maintenance checks
  • Safe load handling, stacking, and unstacking
  • Manoeuvring in confined spaces
  • Driving on ramps and inclines
  • Operating on different surfaces
  • Awareness of workplace hazards
  • Practical driving and handling assessment


Novice course duration:

3 delegates - 5 days

2 delegates - 4 days

1 delegate - 3 days


Refresher Course: 

3 delegates maximum - 1 day

VNA - man down

Course description

Delegates will gain practical experience operating a Very Narrow Aisle (VNA) forklift truck, supported by essential theory. This ITSSAR accredited VNA training course covers safe operation in man-up and man-down configurations, navigation within tight aisles, and correct load-handling techniques. Training is delivered on your site anywhere across Doncaster, Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley, the wider South Yorkshire region and across the UK, ensuring operators learn within their real working environment for maximum relevance and safety.


Course Content 

  • Health and safety responsibilities for VNA operators
  • Pre-use inspections and safety checks
  • Understanding man-up vs man-down systems
  • Operating within very narrow aisles
  • Safe load handling, stacking, and unstacking at height
  • Steering, positioning, and aisle transfer
  • Stability principles and safe working practices
  • Emergency procedures and evacuation
  • Practical driving and handling assessment


Novice course duration:
