 This Abrasive Wheels training course provides delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely mount, use, and maintain abrasive wheels, grinders, and cutting discs in line with current legislation and industry best practice across Sheffield, Rotherham, Doncaster, Barnsley, the wider South Yorkshire region, and across the UK. 


Delivered on-site, the training covers the hazards associated with abrasive wheels, correct selection of equipment, safe working methods, and inspection procedures, ensuring delegates can work confidently, reduce the risk of accidents, and maintain compliance with PUWER, HSE regulations, and industry standards. Certification and digital training records are provided to support audits, compliance, and your company’s training matrix. 


Course Content

  • Health & Safety at Work Act (HASAWA) and PUWER Regulations
  • Common hazards and risks with abrasive wheels
  • Types of abrasive wheels and their applications
  • Wheel markings, storage, and handling
  • Mounting, balancing, and dressing abrasive wheels
  • Safe use of bench grinders and handheld equipment
  • Pre-use checks and inspection requirements
  • PPE requirements and safe working practices
